Can I wear a wet suit?
Yes! You can wear a wet suit, a crazy costume, or a good, old-fashioned swim suit. Just be sure you come prepared with a way to get warm following your “plunge”!

Does the swim really start at 1:00 PM?
Event day registration will begin at 11:30 AM. The swim will start promptly at 1:00 PM.

How cold will the water be?
Around 40°F, that's 4°C.

How do I get involved?
You can become a team captain and form a team with your friends and family, join a team, or join as an individual. Everyone is welcome! Your business or organization can get involved by forming a corporate team and/or becoming an event sponsor.

How long does the event last?
The swim and awards ceremony should be complete by 2:00 PM.

I want to participate, but I don't want to swim. Do I really have to swim?
Getting your toes wet will count!

I'm a business owner and would like to become a sponsor. What are the sponsor levels?
There are five levels of corporate sponsorship: Glacier Sponsor: $3,500; Iceberg Sponsor: $1,000; Igloo Sponsor: $500; Icicle Sponsor: $250; Snowflake Sponsor: $100.

What incentives can I earn?
Participants are eligible for incentive prizes beginning with a $25 contribution. Additional levels of prize awards are $75, $150, $250 and $500. In the past incentive prizes have been items such as a penguin novelty hat, knit cap, snugglie, beach towel, long-sleeve t-shirts & sweatshirts. More to come on the 2013 incentive prizes!

What is the minimum amount for a donation?
There is no minimum donation amount required in order to participate in the swim but we suggest a minimum donation of $25; that way you'd be eligible for an incentive prize!

What kind of awards can I win?
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place trophies are awarded to highest fundraising teams and individuals in two separate divisions; those over 18 and those who are under 18 years of age. Awards are given to the youngest and oldest Penguins. There is a Costume Contest, too, so feel free to be creative!

Where does the swim actually occur?
The swim takes place in the Atlantic Ocean at the Princess Royale Oceanfront Hotel on 91st Street in Ocean City, Maryland. Event day registration begins at 11:30 AM in the hotel atrium & pool area (2nd floor of the hotel).
